About Our Beneficiaries...

Since 2006, BlackRock Rocks has donated more than $22,000 to different charities.  At first, our funds were directed to organizations addressing the immediate needs of Hurricane Katrina survivors, such as The American Red Cross in 2006 and the Salvation Army in 2007.

Because the music of New Orleans is so important to us, we later picked organizations that have focused on the revitalization of the music community itself.  Our donations to The Higher Ground Fund, Tipitina’s Foundation and Delfeayo Marsalis' Swinging with the Cool School have purchased instruments for school children, helped replace instruments lost in the hurricanes, and fund performances for adult musicians.  These funds also supported workshops, after school programs and performances in the NOLA Elementary Schools.

We are proud to have made donations to Original Works, Inc. (2011), an arts training laboratory, Music 4 More (2012), which donated collected instruments to Bridgeport schools, and Kids Empowered by Your Support (K.E.Y.S., 2013-2014), which offers individual and group instrumental lessons. All of our Connecticut beneficiaries work to bring music and the arts to students of all ages who might not otherwise be exposed to the joys and benefits of them.
